Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Science of Mind Point of View

Forgiveness is healing. There are many cultures that do healing and forgiveness work together as a community. Because we are inextricably connected, and reflections of the Divine, how do we become the bridge over troubled waters for our personal healing and the healing of our communities? How can we build bridges of unconditional acceptance for one another and for ourselves?

“We believe the ultimate goal of life to be a complete freedom from all discord of every nature, and that this goal is sure to be attained by all.” (Holmes, 1927, “Declaration of Principles” first published in Science of Mind Magazine).

Supporting Quotes

Forgiveness means reconciliation in spite of estrangement; it means reunion despite hostility; it means acceptance of those who have been unacceptable; it means reception of those who are rejected. FORGIVENESS IS UNCONDITIONAL OR IT IS NOT FORGIVENESS AT ALL! (Holmes, Help For Today, p. 98.5-6)

Prayer of Lovingkindness

May all beings be peaceful.
May all beings be happy.
May all beings be safe.
May all beings awaken to
the light of their true nature.
May all beings be free.
– Metta Prayer (World Healing Prayers, 2018, retrieved from http://worldhealingprayers.com/3.html on 10/29/19)

“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven” (Luke 6:37 Christian Bible, NJKV).

Call to Action

In many of our Centers all over the world, we come together and sing the words to “The Peace Song.” We proclaim: “Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me” (Jackson-Miller & Miller, 1955). Today, let us each resolve to do the inner work so that we might lift the collective consciousness of our spiritual family, of our local community, of the entire planet. Let us build a bridge to bring compassion and kindness in order that we may all enjoy peace and freedom from all discord.

Weekly Affirmation

“I am whole. I am healed. I am loved. I forgive and I am forgiven.”
